Cat Breeding and Transfer

My kittens grow up with the family. They are used to close contact with people. The Birman is a cat which is not usually happy as a single animal, there are however exceptions. Unless the future owner is at home during the day, the Birman cats should have other "cat" company. Sacred Birmans are very sociable and get on well with other animals. They are suitable for families with small children. I shall only give my cats away to people who keep them either indoors or closely watched over in a controlled pen. Don't forget your Birma is very trusting and thereby a suitable victim for theft or capture. The Birman is happy and satisfied to be within it's own four walls and therefore it is not necessary to expose them to unnecessary dangers, such as cars. Even if you live in the countryside never let your cat out, hundreds of cats are being shot by hunters each year. I want to spare you and your cat such a sad fate.

The kittens will usually be able to move to their new homes when they are between 14 and 16 weeks old, depending of course on their general condition( e.g. vaccination status). The cats this age are optimally socialised. Future breeding cats will be released at the earliest at 16 weeks because the development at this age is more visable.
The kittens will be sensibly vaccinated and wormed. You will receive the sales contract, vaccination pass and pedigree certificate with and individual development calendar when you come to pick up your kitten. The kitten will also take his favourite toy and blanket with him to his new home, so that he will have an easier transfer. A food supply for the transition will also be supplied.

I will choose the new owners carefully would like to meet and get to know them personally. You can count on my support whenever possible when you have any questions. Information about the development of the kittens is always welcome, so don't hesitate to stay in touch.

Whenever possible I will bring the kittens to their new homes. Even when kittens may be ready to move, I still want to have the opportunity for myself and to give you're the same opportunity to think about the decision a bit more. Which means only in very exceptional cases would a kitten be given to the new owner on the first meeting.

This Homepage is purely for information purposes and a means of gaining contact.

Allergic to cat fur?

We breeders are increasingly being confronted with people who have adverts for cats who they have to find new homes for due to cat fur allergies.

It would make sense to have an allergy test done before purchasing a cat and thus avoid a lot of problems in the future. One lady who went to an allergy specialist was advised to do a simple self test by scratching her skin and laying a few of the cat in question's hairs with some pressure on the scratched region for about 20 minutes. If the skin showed a reaction, one could assume with relative certainty that the person has an allergy. If no reaction is found a subsequent blood test for antibodies would give the definite status of the person.
